Letter to Sptimes.com "Auctioning off Roads" Nov. 30, 2007
Your editorial about "auctioning off our roads" is right on target ! Thanks for telling your readers what the real "skinny" is on this issue.
Boy, they can't make us part of the "New World Order" fast enough. Anything they can do, sell or lease to "investors", foreign or domestic, is the practice of the day.
I have the opportunity to travel to Miami quite often. As soon as one gets on Alligator Alley ( I-75 ) one sees a sign that states that this road is run and maintained by ICA.
Anytime an American gives up ANY right, is just asking for trouble.
In the last election the people gave up the right to get a petition that is on the ballot, passed by a simple majority (50% plus 1). Now it takes 60%. That, my fellow Floridians, is just ludicrous. I Can't believe the people would vote to tie their own hands on something so important and so American. Since the beginning of this country, men and women have died for us to have this right. And now, we're going to let our State Legislators, Governors, Senators and Congressmen give away the farm?
I, for one, will fight as hard as I can to stop this madness.
As an elected official and member of the Home Rule Advocacy Council of the Florida League of Cities ( an 80 member council), I was dismayed at our last meeting in November that this issue was not chosen to be one of the 4 issues to lobby our legislature. We can only choose 4 issues to present to our legislators because they won't read anything that has too many things that the cities want them to address during the regular session. I am known to be an outspoken member of this committee and I made the "pitch" to the best of my ability. The other members thought that there were more important things than Public / Private "partnerships". Maybe it's because they don't fully understand the implications of these ventures.
I, personally, think that it's extremely important to never give away the store. What's ours should remain ours, lest we lose all of our rights in the long run. This State belongs to the people. Our elected officials work for us, not the other way around. We must remain vigilant or we'll lose everything we hold dear as we have lost the right for independent and 3rd party candidates to compete against the duopoly of the Republicans and Democrats because of the corruption and idolitry of the almighty dollar.
Don't just sit there and complain. Get involved. This is your country after all.

Letter to the Editor of the Star Banner "3rd Parties and the Debates" Oct 2006.
What are they afraid of??
On Monday, Oct 23, 2006 the Reform Party candidate for Governor, Max Linn, won the District Court decision that would allow him in the gubernatorial debate on PBS (public supported broadcast network). On Tuesday, hours before the debate time, the Appellate Court ruled otherwise.
My question is why isn't the Florida citizenry allowed to hear the opinions of a third party candidate on matters vital to the State of Florida? The answer is, the two major parties are afraid. Afraid because history has shown what can happen, i.e. Ross Perot in 1992 and Jesse Ventura in 1998. My next question is what can we do about it.
Answer: vote out all incumbents and vote against the major parties whenever you can. Send the message that one third of the electorate is disgusted with the way our political system is running. We need new voices, honest voices, uncorrupted voices. It is up to the voting public to send this message. If they don't, all they will get is more of the same ole, same ole. Eventually no one will even try and then we can kiss our democracy goodbye.
